Dialectical Behaviour Therapy is based on the work of Marsha Linehan. It is a therapy modality that was designed to decrease unhealthy coping behaviours such as self-harm, suicidal thinking and substance abuse. In it’s purest form, DBT is an intensive long-term treatment that combines weekly therapy sessions with weekly skills training groups. There are, however, many elements of DBT that can be offered as a compliment to other therapies, such as CBT, and trauma therapy.
Our therapists can offer elements of this therapy to enhance other treatment modalities and to help you with regulating emotions.
To find out more about DBT see this page on the Linehan Institute website.
