We work with families and caregivers to support children with a range of special needs. Our goal is to work as part of a team, led by the child, his/her family and/or caregivers, whom we acknowledge to be the experts of their child’s abilities and goals.
Our counsellors understand that the diagnostic process can evoke mixed feelings, generate fear of limiting the child, albeit sometimes necessary for accessing community and financial support, such as the case of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). We aim to transcend the “label” of a given diagnosis, understanding that children are complex beings and cannot be limited by such categories. With this in mind, we work toward accepting limitations, finding creative ways to meet each social-emotional developmental step. At the same time, we seek to uncover strengths and abilities, helping each child to reach his or her unique potential.
